| Notes: |
Following this easy maintenance checklist should keep your pool water crystal clear and trouble free. Proper pool maintenance is your first line of defense in preventing most common problems.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
TWICE A WEEK
1. Check and maintain pH levels at 7.4 - 7.6
2. Check and maintain free available chlorine level at 1.0 - 3.0 ppm.
3. Empty skimmer baskets, clean tile or pool water at water line with POOL SURFACE CLEANER, and skim leaves, insects and other floating debris from the pool surface.
ONCE A WEEK
1. Shock the pool by adding one bag of SHOCK per 10,000 gallons. Additional shock may be needed after a rain storm, heavy bather load, or exceptionally hot weather.
2. Add a maintenance dose of ALGAE PREVENTATIVE or ALGAE TERMINATOR to prevent algae growth.
3. Brush pool walls and vacuum pool floors.
MONTHLY

OPENING YOUR POOL See How to Open your Pool.
Whether starting up a brand new pool or one that has been closed over the winter, proper start-up will get you swimming faster and enjoying the pool more—and help prevent problems during the summer months.
1. REMOVE, CLEAN AND STORE POOL COVER with COVER CLEANER DEODORIZER and perform housekeeping chores such as brushing, vacuuming, and emptying skimmer baskets of dirt and debris.
2. ADD WATER. Water level should always be approximately half way up the skimmer opening.
3. PREPARE EQUIPMENT following manufacturer's recommendations.
4. BALANCE WATER by taking 1 quart of pool water to your professional Pool dealer for a complete water analysis. Follow the dealer's instructions for balancing the water.
5. REMOVE ORGANIC WASTE with 1 lb. of Shock per 10,000 gallons, or 1 lb. of Shock per 6,000 gallons. NOTE: Shock should be pre-dissolved in a clean plastic bucket of water at a ratio of no more than 1 lb. per 1 gallon of water. Slowly pour into pool around edges.
6. PREVENT ALGAE by adding an initial dose of a ALGAE PREVENTATIVE, 1 quart per 25,000 gallons - or ALGAE TERMINATOR, 1/2 quart per 20,000 gallons.
7. CONTINUOUS DISINFECTION. Regular sanitation consists of using Blue Wave CHLORINATING 1" or 3" tablets in your skimmer or automatic chlorinator. AT ALL TIMES, maintain a free chlorine level of at least 1.0 ppm, to continuously kill bacteria. S.Merillat® ▪ See More Swimming Pool Tips
